Hot Tips on Selecting a Personal Trainer for the New Year

People have turned to personal trainers for guidance, motivation, consultation and inspiration; personal trainers are becoming as relevant
as doctors, dentists, barbers or therapists.

Where to Begin?
Now that you have decided to use a personal trainer - what’s next? Finding the right mix of knowledge, personality, talent and affordability is a
challenge. Here are a few things to keep in mind when you’re looking for potential trainers.

Credibility
These are questions you should ask before you break a sweat – and open your wallet. The answers will tell you how professional the trainer is.
Is it a job or career? The answer matters.

  • What kind of background does the trainer have?

  • Have they been certified by an accredited association (such as the American Council of Exercise ((A.C.E.)), American College of Sports Medicine ((A.C.S.M.)), Aerobic and Fitness Association ((I.S.S.A.))?

  • Are they insured? Is he/she a freelancer or employed by a gym?

  • Do they have their own gym or fitness studio?

  • Are they a Certified Nutritionist?

Another point of credibility, does the trainer live a well-balanced lifestyle. It is difficult to be motivated by someone who is out drinking, smoking and being very healthy.

Value
Trainers come in all shapes, sizes and price points, which can vary from only $50 an hour to $175 or more. This depends on the city you live in, the type of gym you belong to and the experience and status of the trainer. Look at all the services a trainer offers, nutrition coaching, workout facility, is it one-on-one training and use your best judgement.

Working with the right trainer can literally change your life. Reaching your personal fitness goals are one of the most difficult challenges we face. But believing in yourself and with a little help you can attain the results you have always dreamed of!
